That was great. Great animation and really nice details. I'm surprised you did all the voice acting yourself too. Just wow, man.

MaxJohnsonINK responds:

Oh wow, thanks so much! The VA was a lot of fun on this one. Thanks for watching!

great work. The vibrant neon colors, mixed media/collage style, and character morphing really give this animation that dream feel that for this animation specifically felt slightly unsettling yet fun to watch. The POV shot at the beginning was great, it managed to show that weird aspect of how in some dreams arbitrary things are connected for some reason, like how raising your hand makes the waiter move away at one to one ratio, it also had a comic had a comedic tone to it like how youtube poops rewind and play back things on repeat for now reason other than it's funny. Also nice subtle reference to the "Bongcheon-Dong Ghost" webcomic.

FlumpyTripod responds:

Thank you very much, although I have no idea what the reference to Bongcheon Dong Ghost would be.

Great work. Nice smooth animations, which also have their own sense of comedy that fits the subject matter. Having both comedic and polished animations is a hard thing to balance. The whole has a very nice consistent level quality to it. The simplistic, thick lined designs read and animate really well. While the subject matter was funny it was also kinda generic, any two characters could be saying this to each other.

alecgrosso responds:

Hey! I appreciate the feedback :) I agree that the exchange didn't represent these characters as individuals very much, but I'll be working on better writing for the future lol

This reminds me of one of those Adult Swim bumpers, but mixed in with those old Toonami motivational videos where Tom gives you life advice and tells you not to worry too much. It has a nice lo-fi atmospheric ambient tone to it. Oddly enough this managed to make both motivated and kinda depressed at the same time.

CapaciousSpace responds:

Man, you GET it...

Nice retro look, the the color and drawing style really fit that older style. Reminded me a lot of UPA's stuff or the UPA inspired stuff on Cartoon Network.

But what animation program are you using for this? Because the the pixelated lines on the zoom-ins and close-ups really bothered me, and I'm sure those were intentional, it kinda takes away from the whole retro aesthetic you're going for. The art style you used had a lot of thick lined simplistic drawings with repeating cycles, so a vector animation program like Flash would be perfect for this kind of thing and the linework would never look blurry like it did here.

LUCA-FATTORE responds:

Thank you for the input.
I used "Tv Paint", and some lines are pixelated because I didn't want to work with super heavy files, so I did 1920:1080 and zoomed in when needed.
I know vector lines are definitely better. : )

Nice of use of light, it was hard to tell what was going on at first, but it still works. The only part I didn't like was between 0:48 and 0:50 where the blue guy is running and it shows his whole body, it doesn't make use of any lighting at all and it breaks continuity with the hyper zoomed in style that ever other scene has, also he looks like a stick figure.

FlumpyTripod responds:

Thanks for the feedback. I guess it makes sense that that one shot feels off to the rest of the video. It was the last thing I animated after a week of not working on it. Interesting.

Lots of different animation styles and art styles. Great work, there were some really inventive ways of making the animations match the music. Although, I do want to say that between 0:50 and 1:10 the animation looks unfinished in comparison to everything else.

O-ro responds:

everyone in this is at different levels and utilizes different styles, I appreciate the feedback though, and it will only get better in ((((the sequel)))).

Great work! A lot of good ideas and scenes. Nice fleshed out world and characters. It got a bit slow in the middle though. Make this an ongoing thing please, it's great!

mattyburrito responds:

thanks for the comment! yeah definitely some scenes and sequences I could make tighter. I'll try to get better at that in future projects.

Great amount of detail. Some of it got annoying, but I laughed too. This is exactly what I think a dream would be like. The amount of detail in there is crazy, good work.

noiserover responds:

Thanks!

Just starting out as an animator, hope to get better.
