didn't get the point of the video till I clicked the link. That's so cool!

The song is okay I guess. But the animation is really not great. Also at the beginning your name was really hard to read.

This is good stuff. But I feel like this should probably be uploaded as a gif to the art portal not the movie portal.

This needs to be an Adult Swim bumper now!!

In my review of last episode I was just a little bit disappointed, I thought this show wasn't deep enough, but I was wrong! This is great! Best episode yet! Just the way the show starts off with a connection to the last episode and has a constant yet evolving theme, pushed by that recurring line, "beautiful on the inside". This episode just had such a good pace and thematic through-line.

You know, I thought this show would just be a light funny show in space. That's what the
pilot/ep. 1 felt like, especially because they left Vela on her ship when it was over. But now it seems like she has a purpose, giving the show some heart and slowing things down and talking. Hell, when she's on the couch with Sam she makes him feel like a human character. Everything with ghostworth hits on a similar theme, although I wish the whole two ghostworths thing wasn't resolved so quickly, I'm sure him "dying" will be a recurring traumatic memory that builds character, but I don't know, I wish the two Ghostworths had talked to each other, or one of them talked to Vela, about the odd philosophical quandary of grieving over your own death / someone else who is you but also not / there suddenly being two of same person creates an abnormal situation meaning that both are offshoots of the original, but I guess that would be too much for comedy show like this one. Anyways what I'm trying to say here is that this episode cut deeper, and it was good beyond just its production value.

great work. The vibrant neon colors, mixed media/collage style, and character morphing really give this animation that dream feel that for this animation specifically felt slightly unsettling yet fun to watch. The POV shot at the beginning was great, it managed to show that weird aspect of how in some dreams arbitrary things are connected for some reason, like how raising your hand makes the waiter move away at one to one ratio, it also had a comic had a comedic tone to it like how youtube poops rewind and play back things on repeat for now reason other than it's funny. Also nice subtle reference to the "Bongcheon-Dong Ghost" webcomic.

FlumpyTripod responds:

Thank you very much, although I have no idea what the reference to Bongcheon Dong Ghost would be.

Great work. Nice smooth animations, which also have their own sense of comedy that fits the subject matter. Having both comedic and polished animations is a hard thing to balance. The whole has a very nice consistent level quality to it. The simplistic, thick lined designs read and animate really well. While the subject matter was funny it was also kinda generic, any two characters could be saying this to each other.

alecgrosso responds:

Hey! I appreciate the feedback :) I agree that the exchange didn't represent these characters as individuals very much, but I'll be working on better writing for the future lol

This reminds me of one of those Adult Swim bumpers, but mixed in with those old Toonami motivational videos where Tom gives you life advice and tells you not to worry too much. It has a nice lo-fi atmospheric ambient tone to it. Oddly enough this managed to make both motivated and kinda depressed at the same time.

CapaciousSpace responds:

Man, you GET it...

Nice retro look, the the color and drawing style really fit that older style. Reminded me a lot of UPA's stuff or the UPA inspired stuff on Cartoon Network.

But what animation program are you using for this? Because the the pixelated lines on the zoom-ins and close-ups really bothered me, and I'm sure those were intentional, it kinda takes away from the whole retro aesthetic you're going for. The art style you used had a lot of thick lined simplistic drawings with repeating cycles, so a vector animation program like Flash would be perfect for this kind of thing and the linework would never look blurry like it did here.

LUCA-FATTORE responds:

Thank you for the input.
I used "Tv Paint", and some lines are pixelated because I didn't want to work with super heavy files, so I did 1920:1080 and zoomed in when needed.
I know vector lines are definitely better. : )

Just starting out as an animator, hope to get better.
